For those that do want to use sound you actually just make a copy and change the file extension to ".wav" and you'll get the audio.

I am able to import the file now, but i get no playback. In other words my composition screen is grey or black and nothing plays when i hit play. I am running ae 23

I get changing the file extension, but I cannot see what installing the K-Lite Codec pack nor making it the default Video Player has anything to do with it.....
