Very sad that these iconic buildings were demolished in the name of greed and progress! This should never happen again in New York City or any other place in America or the world!

I think another one that deserves to get mentioned is the Hotel Astor that was located in Times Square. Completed in 1910, and demolished in 1967 for One Astor Plaza, which in my opinion, look "ok" at best. A juxtaposition from the master piece that came before it.

YOU FORGET SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT NEAR THE OLD SINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE HORRIBLE DEMOLITION OF THE TWO HUDSON TERMINAL TOWERS FROM 1908, AND THE ENTIRE DISTRICT WEST OF THERE, KNOWN AS RADIO ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS OCCURRED BEGINNING AROUND 1965!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE WAS BUILT ON THE SITE THUSLY CREATED????????????? NOTHING LESS THAN THE TWIN TOWERS AND ASSOCIATED BUILDINGS OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
