Ladies and gentlemen, a round of applause for youtube's recommender algorithm

Maurice Louca is an Egyptian underground artist; one of very few whose contributions in the Egyptian scene helped shape our underground music; the other few include (but not limited to:) Maryam Saleh, Ali Talibab (front man in Malafat band, also has a lot of solo work and was a major catalyst in the Egyptian revolution,) Nadah El Shazly, Sam Shalabi (who is also in this band) and many more.

I feel that every time someone loses their faith in music, youtube's recommendation algorithm finds another great gem and distributes it massively.

I've just found that the artwork is taken from an actual Egyptian glazed steatite piece, it's called "Scarab with Bes and geese" and you can find it on the online collection of the Walters Art Museum of Baltimore.

Such a random recommendation from YouTube, but boy am I glad.

I read the book "Pygmy Kitabu" in which it is claimed that the "pygmies" who now reside deep in the forests of central africa were originally from Egypt and lived lavish lives, then decided that this lifestyle was corrupting them and they should go to the forest and live simply, whereupon they headed south to where they now reside - in various parts of Gabon, DRC, the Congo, Central African Republic, and Cameroon mainly. Apparently these musicians know that, since they reference the "Baka" people in the first piece's title, and the "pygmies" are considered dwarfs in size. Also, I believe Bes is the name of the god/idol that the Egyptians who followed, and Bes was a pygmy

This album...this one...The pictures they are painting with sound have no room for words. This is a journey of landscapes...this is a hike into the place you haven't seen in awhile. This is a rapturous meander into chaos....so filled with order that it hurts. Do treat yourself from Beginning to End....Your Mind will thank you.
