A call center is where you can speak with customers who have the intelligence of a slug but the temper of a hell hound.

It’s worse working from home. You get yelled at, made fun of, watched by a manager and people you don’t know what they look like. All of this and you never get to leave your home. Your home becomes hell. I quit working in a call center about 4 months ago and I will never ever work in one again

This just reminded me why I quitted working for call centers. Impolite people calling all day to tell you their problems.

Working in a call centre is fucked up - I’ve worked in several and most of them were HORRENDOUS. Getting threatened with violence/r*pe, getting called every name under the sun, being screamed at - almost every single call. I was already struggling with depression and anxiety but really needed a job back then, so I just had to suck it up - but my mental health severely deteriorated to the point where I seriously considered harming myself in the office bathroom, or jumping in front of the train before and after work - almost on a daily basis. Add shitty management that micro manages your every move and the pressure of having to achieve KPIs. I would never ever do that shit again as I’m afraid that I’ll actually off myself if I had to do deal with it ever again. KUDOS to people who are in call centre jobs. It is HARD.

Not only were our bathroom trips timed, but your name and the time was shown up on the wall ticking away so the entire call center knew how long you'd been in the toilet.

I started at a call center today. Training was yesterday, a few hours. Less than 3 hours I think.

Omg this is so accurate I worked for amazon and legit I had to quit because it gave me anxiety people can be so rude and racist.

The amount of stories I've heard from people that were nearly driven to suicide because of these jobs is frightening. Getting watched constantly by a sadistic bat shit crazy manager and having to put up with abusive customers every day is probably the closest thing to hell on earth you can get in the workplace. And most people can't quit because they desperately need the money.

I've had a job like that before. It wasn't exactly a call center but something similar. I know the feels man.
