Im in a very hot country, and a mixture of shortening and butter helps make a very stable buttercream frosting. I've made it a number of times already. And i cream the butter and shortening first for about 5 mins before adding icing sugar.

I want to thank you for this recipe. I have tried several and they were pretty bland, but this recipe is just awesome! I used it to make the icing for a Frozen themed cake and cupcakes for my niece and the taste is amaazing.

One of the very BEST frostings I have ever made. Very easy and not too sweet but very fluffy and creamy. I only did vanilla this time but I will be trying a few of your other combinations. LOVE IT...Thank you for sharing. DELICIOUS!!!!

oh my goodness finally found a recipe that i didn't have to cream the butter for 5 min i didn't think it would work but it did and it taste great no more buying from the store thanks so much my husband normally don't eat cakes but after he did what i call the finger taste he hate half of the cake so thanks for something simple and easy

Love this recipe.. simplicity ! just like my gran use to make it ! when i was still in pre-primary and primary school, we visited our gran parents over Dec holidays, i use to eat her icing mixes in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep :) it was REALLY good !

2 Sticks of butter (room temperature) 3 cups sifted icing sugar. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. 1 tbsp heavy cream food colouring
