I was born deaf and was able to hear quite well with hearing aids but now with only one ear implanted,, it certainly took a while to adjust to the cochlear implant. It sounds different from hearing aids. So many sounds I have never heard before, it’s amazing.

I find cochlear implants (and people's reaction & adaption to them) so fascinating because it is a fantastic way to study synesthesia and brain plasticity in people. They thrill me emotionally, because of the depth of my love for music, the human voice, and all the sounds of Mother Nature. To know these people will no longer be deprived of these experiences, to me, is what makes life exciting.

I guess when all you ever experience of sound is the bass rumbling you get from the vibration, everything sounds squeaky.

I sometimes wish I could turn off my hearing and I wouldn't have to listen to people that I don't like. Cyborgs are really and people don't realize it.
