Just for your clarification the CIWS is not throwing up a wall of lead with the hope that the missile will run into it. It uses radar to track the back of its own bullets and uses continuous aim correction to correct its point of aim/point of impact offset for each of the six barrels in realtime. its very much not a spray and pray activity. I am a former CIWS tech for the US Navy.
