The swinging doors were actually not very common in saloons and was only portrayed because Hollywood wanted to make entrances more seamless.

Craziest thing is when I lived in LA I randomly moved to literally two blocks from that Burger King and Toys R Us on Victory blvd in Burbank, and then I ended up working down the street from the Puente Hills Mall, which doubled as the Twin/Lone Pines Mall in the movie. Crazy coincidences as a life long BTTF fan. And even bigger considering Burbank is in the San Fernando Valley north of hollywood, and Puente Hills Mall is like 30 mins east from the middle of LA in the San Gabriel Valley. Like how did I happen to end up in those two locations on a daily basis?

You noticed all these differences yet call the 80's version of the bar a dance studio when it clearly states it's an aerobics studio

I love how the design choises made wheren't all based entirely on history but also to refer to diffrent genres and convery certeain design expressions. Goes to prove how well made and thought through these films are :)

It's pretty amazing that he memorized his lines for Family Ties AND BTTF 1 and 2.

I think the bar in the 1980s is supposed to be an aerobics / exercise class more than a dance studio. Aerobics classes really took off as a craze in the 1980s, and they started showing up everywhere.

The environment changed in BTTF 3. It went from green prairie like to rugged southwest desert.

The dystopian alternative 1980s scene reminds me of parts of Oakland CA today.
