The price for entry to the dragons keep was simple: best the guard on the bridge. For two hours, each of the party has tried and failed. The bard could not charm or sway him, the sorcerer could not outwit him or overwhelm him with arcane might. The cleric could not find any peace to be shared between them, or offer any needed wisdom. As the fighter reels from the guards last strike he stumbles, realizing that even brute strength can’t beat the guard. The guard continues to watch the party, before speaking
