That was LITERALLY the point. That the Jedi Order saw it the same way. This is supported through the "He was too dangerous to be left alive" that is spoken by Palpatine, the Sith Lord, and Mace Windu, Master of the Jedi Council. They had reached an inflection point where neither would give ground, and it's what let to the rise of the Empire.

I'm getting so tired of people saying, "Stop taking things so seriously." No! I won't stop taking things seriously!
