An AB blowout is pretty rare on the 220PW's. We used to have them quite a bit on the 200's as it only had 1 ignitor and wasn't digital.

Seen all kinds of incorrect comments on here. This was likely an F100-100 engine. They were prone to what we referred to as "Auggie Blowouts." This is an auggie blowout. Definite. It's the burner that did that. Not FOD, not comp stall, just a breakdown of airflow in the Augmentor. This one wasn't one of the spectacular ones I've seen. Especially in the Hush House. Big balls of flame. Pretty good kick when in the seat and it happens. LOL!

The F-15 in front may have kicked up a rock that got ingested into the trailing plane's engine. Or the first 2 planes may have used up the oxygen in the air over the runway causing #3 to flame out. Or all the disturbed air over the runway may have caused the compressor in #3 to stall.
