I started crying at “who knew I had such a strong girl living under my roof this whole time” and did not stop crying for the rest of the episode. Camila is SUCH a good person

As someone with an abusive mother, Camilla wasn’t abusive at all, she’s probably the best mom anyone could ask for

2:10 Gets me to tear up every time. This woman went from "I'm scared of this thing that was taking Luz's place for months" to "this is my adopted daughter and you will not harm her" as fast as the TOH community did.

This all hits harder after the season three premiere. Everyone who called her abusive should apologize now!

I find it’s so real that Camilla HERSELF experienced this; we often forget the nuances, and as a neurodivergent Latina it is SO real how she goes about this. My mum has adhd like me, and growing up I was also bullied. There were things said that aggravated my masking, but I absolutely know it was out of love and by extension fear of being alone. Camilla knows that struggle, and is likely falling back on how she was raised (much like how my mum did) and it’s incredibly realistic and was a gut punch. I love it

She’s not abusive, or toxic, she’s just trying her best, being a parent is difficult, of course she can’t be perfect, but, she!s so sweet, and luz she did miss her mom, but also wanted to be a witch, and she actually matured, it’s hard, but she’s still a great mom

There's a big difference between being abusive and being human. Just because a parent can make mistakes in an effort to do what's best for their kid doesn't mean that they're in any way abusive. Camilla strikes me as one of the most realistic parental figures I've seen in animation. She gets scared, she gets angry, she works hard, she makes mistakes and may not always understand what Luz is going through, but she still tries her best and loves her child to no end; even willing to extend that love to children that aren't her own.

My mom hasn’t watched the Owl House before and all she knows is that it has gay characters in it. She watched this episode with me and when Luz was talking to Camilla through the car headlight she said “It’s to early for me to be crying over some show.” SHE WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO CRY

I vehemently despise the part of the fandom that labels her as abusive just cus shes showing her daughter tough love, its very clear theyve never witnessed how hispanic and asian parents raise their children, and even worse that they only start liking camila after finding out she accepts her daughter as bi, like hello?? shes ALWAYS been supportive. same thing applies to odalia, too. the actual abusive mother who suddenly gets a pass cus she also accepts her daughters romantic preference.

a quote from my mother. "The last thing any parent wants is for their kid to have a hard life". luz's mom knows that while being different is good, it also means your life is going to be hard. people aren't as friendly as we want them to be and any parent who has been bullied would never want their child to suffer like them for being different

Some ppl are antagonizing Camila so much, it has become frustrating at this point. Camila was so laid back the entire episode, she appreciates Luz's antiques and quirks, she loved her so much and she even reacted well after finding out that she has been living with an imposter the entire time. Throughout the episode, it was quite evident that Camila felt like she pushed Luz too hard after "Luz" decided to throw her things out, and finding out that her daughter chose to stay in "hell" became an affirmation that somehow validated that feeling. People tend to undermine the responsibility and the weight of becoming a parent, and it shows.

Camila literally does her best as a single mother, and as someone who was that weird kid who endured the trauma of being bullied throughout school. She doesn't want her daughter to endure the same pain she did, and actually loves Luz's creativity and encouraged it so much. We don't tolerate Camila hate in this house. This Owl House

Vee's rescue was such a stressful situation. Camilla playing along with Luz's "game" wasn't really her in denial, she just knows her daughter so much to create wild and imaginative scenarios to spice things up! She's so so great, and she knows what Luz needs and exactly what she wants, but that doesn't mean she can't feel helpless, too. The moment she was confronted with the fact that her daughter had secretly run away and (for all she knew) found an imposter to go in her place? That's like. World breaking. Shattering. The fact that she was able to keep it in for so long and keep her calm and kindness was so admirable, and even when she let it out she was being the kindest she could be in the situation. AND SHE'S A SINGLE MOTHER???!!
