People underestimate Jiraiya just because of his pervy and goofy side, but he did not become a Sannin for nothing. Under that goofy exterior hides an intelligent and analytical mind. And he is damn good at recon. After all, he was the one who first discovered the Akatsuki and its dealings. He is probably better at recon than all the ANBU put together.

Honestly one of my favorite parts of this whole arc was Sasuke interacting with Jiraiya. I don’t think they even exchanged one word in original Naruto or Shippuden.

I think he 100% knew, jiraya may come off as dumb but he’s one of the brightest ninjas in the show

That time when Sasuke realizes, WTF? He did not expect to be disccoved by Jiraya, even he works good in the shadows like an Anbu ninja, but nothing hides from the eyes of Master Jiraya (Even from the Spa lol).

Jiraya was just busy to travel the shinobi world gather information and knowledge about every type of group and people for makin truly peace in this world that's why he had no time to improve his skill ( though he was one of the strongest character in Naruto ) he was avoiding fight. He even didn't completely mastered sage mode just for he take the responsibility to train people like Naruto, Minato,nagato bcz jiraya thought they will make peace in this world and can make his dream complete.
