OMG this story is literally insane...the guy thought "the game" was just a bunch of jpegs taped together. You're a saint!

"I need the source code" "We don't have the source code" what the fuck, that's some crazy shit.

Reminds me of the Action 52 dev process where the guy who hired the students to make the game said "okay guys make 52 games in a month LOL"

This woman doesn't deserve a beer...she deserves a whole brewery worth of beer...she's a legend

Moral of the story: Never let a cocky entrepreneur with zero expertise in an industry spearhead the development of something.

CEO of 3DO is like: "Do I look like I know what a JPEG is? I just want you to print this weapon into the game."

Reminds me of a program manager at a company I once worked for who insisted that adding a second USB port to the device we were building took nothing more than buying a part with two instead of one. Because you know, now there's TWO of them. Not like we'd have to do anything with the controller chips, the firmware, the drivers, the software... Nope. Just buy a dual port part.

Hello! I'm from Russia. You did everything right! Thank you for the story and incredible work. This is a great feat, porting the game in the shortest possible time! Thanks to you the game Doom on 3do appeared. IT IS A FACT!!!!! If this had not happened, I would not have heard the Soundtracks from Art Data Interactive. I am very proud of all of you !!!!!!!!!! I think John Carmack hates these game consoles, past time :). Doom on the PC, of course it looks always excellent. Even PlayStation brakes, the Doom game has changed terribly. Finally you have corrected all the errors, I am very happy for your work! I can not believe that the optimization took place. :) You have overcome yourself and this is very cool! Anyway, Doom for 3do is a of the happiness of that time. _ With great respect to You! - Thank You very much, Rebecca Ann Heineman !!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

its really funny to me hearing all the stories of the different ports of Doom, cause every version for the 90s consoles was done by some of the most talented programers of the time. kinda funny seeing the Switch port of DOOM '16 carrying on the trend of insanely impressive hardware-pushing ports of DOOM to consoles

Atleast the music is better than any other Doom version.

The technical vocab is beyond me, but one thing i really admire about game programmers is how creative they get with working around technical limitations

So that's why the 3do version's music is so kickass!
