Our Retire Early Journey
Description
We are an American married couple (Cherie & Jim) with 3 "almost" grown children. We were like most couples; we never thought of our future retirement. We were too busy keeping up with the Jones' until 2020 when we took control of our future. We have been planning all aspects of retirement since and have been successful in accelerating towards our goals of an early retirement. We have been inspired by many channels openly talking about their recent retirements and thought it might be fun to do the same to show the other angle of a couple working to obtain what they already have. We plan on openly sharing our goals, our retirement plans and our progress to potentially help others as we navigate towards retirement.
We have recently achieved Coast Fire and can't wait to see what is next for us in our journey!

I don't know what your experience is outside of NH but where we live in WA state, as far as you can see tent cities, people passed out on the street or dead, drugs in their arm, crime, murders, kids cant play outside, its legit dangerous and its happening in a lot of states. You cant go to the mall here without a legitimate risk of being shot. Its my understanding that NH is one of the few states with very little crime. You both seem like very nice people, i fear if you leave NH and you will see very quickly that what you have in NH is extremly rare and priceless.

Having lived in Manch Vegas until 2005 we moved to Fla. Our electric is less and all utilities are electric. No gas no oil. Prop tax not bad 8% sales tax ugh. But culture i miss. I travel around the US. Tenn is nice and we know a bunch of people that moved to tenn or NC from Florida. We called them half backs, as they went half way back. It would be simikar countfy living to NH

I just retired and we are looking to move from the NYC suburbs to Southern NH to reduce our costs. Our property taxes on a smaller house on 1/4 acre are double your taxes. Plus NYS 5% income tax.

I'm a northeast resident and have been my whole life, I love snow. I went to NH to look at retiring there from NYS. I love NH but couldn't afford NH taxes. They may not have income or sales tax but they get it other ways.

16 hours without power is really not a big deal. When you live up here in the white north, you have to be prepared for those things solar panels and batteries runs my heat that we just have to be cautious with the freezers essentially don’t open them things.
