I don’t mess around at dealerships. As soon as I see them playing games I just walk out. Don’t care if they are mid sentence. Plenty of business elsewhere and ton of bikes.

This is exactly why Harley is failing. It doesn’t go any farther than the lousy dealerships. I know there are a few out there that actually are honest and give great service but, they are Few and far between.

Not many Indian dealerships but my closest happens to only be 45 minutes away, not another one for hours. Absolutely incredible buying experience, used them for service and repair after my bike was hit. They not only fixed it perfect, they kept me updated and they also installed my exhaust, seat, and bars for free.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I avoid San Jose Harley for this reason. Through all the different owners I've never had a good experience at that location.

Everyone needs to refuse to pay the crazy markups. 20k for a dyna is high enough already. You shouldn’t have given them a dime.

That's exactly why I walked into my local HD dealer and walked out with a Triumph. Don't pay mark up - ever.

Walked in with $15,000 cash money for a bike. I had the manufacturer's suggested retail and left with nothing. F HD

I owned an 1100 RS BMW, when I visited the USA and rented a Harley. How the world's biggest industrial nation could produce such junk was beyond me. It wouldn't go, it wouldn't stop, it wouldn't corner, everything shook, I put it on the sidestand and the bolt slipped and it fell over. The Beemer is a joy.

And Harley wonder why their sales are falling, these dealers should have their franchise removed and given to dealers that don't rip customers off .

Dude is takes like 8 hours to buy a bike these days these dealer dudes swear they're slick. But like infamous says you just gotta be firm on them, yeah you might come off rude or whatever and offend half the dealer but like i tell them its just business nothing personal, bc theyll try and force you to buy all this extra bs. At the end of the day never compromise or settle bc there plenty if dealers in the US, and most states have a handful so you can just walk into another dealer.

This is exactly why I went to Indian! The Harley dealers in Washington were the same way. No one could give you a solid answer and negotiation was non-existent. After discovering that I would not be able to get the bike I wanted at Indian, I was bummed. The salesman spoke with his manager and they not only gave me an additional grand on my trade in, they threw on the passenger gear and refunded me the $3,000 that I had paid for the vip maintenance package on my previous bike since I had never used it. This made it possible for me to take home the bike I wanted. They stayed well past their closing to make sure the refund went through. Even after all of that, they gave me $850 towards other upgrades and I get free t-shirts and other goods every time I visit. I still plan on purchasing a Softail in the future but will probably be buying from an owner.

Snakes !! I've had similar experiences with car dealerships. As soon as I got up to leave, miraculously a deal appeared - exactly at the price I wanted. Don't be afraid to walk.

I commend you for your self control and principals. Thank you for not giving in. And thank you for taking the time for sharing. This situation sounds just like being at the dentist office btw.

If they get you to the "finance guy" you better be on your toes. They are the slickest of the bunch.
