James almost made the record for the third time there, when he was $1,106 short- he would have made it for a third time, if the other two players didn't have as much money to double up and such to catch him. For instance, (bear with me on what might've been) $6,200 x 2 = $12,400, and $6,600 = $13,200, and if James got that wrong with the $1,106 added to his $58,000 wager, he would've ended up with $12,916, which would then end his run. Therefore, him playing it with the $58,000 wager was mathematically safer and faster in his mind, for sure, since if had got that one wrong, he would've still won with $14,022, no matter what the other two ended up with. Yeah, this game can really get not only brain tickling, but also mathematically fast, too.
