You just earned a like, simply because you answered the thumbnail first!! The world needs more creators like you!

I solved the problem by buying straight tracks from other companies
lostcarpark (18 minutes ago)
Very good explanation. I think there is also the fact that having separate straight and curved track sets takes an extra space on toy shop shelves that could be given to another set.

Thank you for cutting right to the point.

In truthful its a money hungry scheme, and extremely wasteful.. Imagine how many collectors have piles of curved tracks unused or even just thrown away due to not needing them. Wasteful, wish they would just focus on what we need, even so they should make a double straight track just to save on durability

Just got steam cargo train 7722. Will be doing a live build of it soon on my channel. I prefer straight track as I display my trains on my shelf in mini diorama fashion.

I wish they’d go back to the buildable track. So many more options, such as curves, gauges, etc
paulsenior946 (2 hour ago)
the 9v track is my preferred option. ok its quite expensive for the straights and motors, but its better than carrying batteries on trains.

Thank you so much for telling the answer for the thumbnail right away.

I was always upset I couldn’t make the track wind instead of a circle from a single train set as a kid. As an adult I want more straight track but curves are still useful for other things like you said.

I think a large part of the problem that The LEGO Group has is that all of their tracks have been made to an ageing track width, and no matter what they do, they simply can't abandon the track width. If they try to make track with less width, that introduces complications with pieces that will work well in models that are supposed to use it. If they go for wider track, the piece count starts to rise in proportion to the number of additional studs per cubic inch that will need to be added to a model to fill it out in 3 dimensions. This can be seen from when they transitioned from 4-stud wide vehicles to 6 stud and 8 stud wide vehicles. Every time they reassess their stud width for models they have to allow for this in roads and rails, and leave appropriate spaces in buildings for it all to line up together properly. It is a fine balancing act on a line that has many constraints they need to pay close attention to!

Ironically I saw these in my nearest Lego shop on New Years Day.

My comment on this got eaten (I suspect because it contained a link to lego's website? ) - lego DOES sell individual track parts on their Bricks and Pieces service; you can get about 15 straight bits of track for the same price as the straights + curves pack cost.

I was on the UK site today and they had track pieces available through Pick-A-Brick.
