Guts was a man without goals and any ambitions. He just lived his life to fight and survive. Griffith was a man with a dream and great ambitions. He lived all his life for this one goal and became a slave to his dream. Griffith inspired Guts to look for a goal in his life, Guts taught Griffith that there is more in life than just ambitions. When Griffith lost the only person who managed to get through him and change him, he was so devastated he began to fear his dream will disappear too and made a huge mistake.

yeah, that sounds fair :) No one can deny that Berserk is the ultimate dark and most tragic fantasy franchise out there, in spite of any other aspect leading otherwise.

For the most part, Griffiths followers just fall in love with him. Except Guts. Guts was hard to get for Griffith. That's why Griffith treasured him more than the others.

The new berserk movies, that cover up about 100 chapters of the origial manga are probaly some of the best animated projects to date. Completly amazing.

I was actually pleasantly surprised. The song fits alot of what's going on. (Granted, I wanted more blood and action, but the song is more about the plot between Guts and Griffith's former friendship.)

I agree and disagree with that opinion. It is true that Guts cares for Casca and his son, and he did state that if a person dies that they were too weak, but on the contrary he does save and protect a lot of characters without reason. He saved Teresia countless times in volume 3 or 4, and in volume 14 he protected Jill and throughout the entire manga even protects Puck even though it is clear he is of no use to him. These are just minor examples, but they all add up if analyzed properly.
