I started the series when it was first published in Shonen Jump magazine. The anime, on the other hand, was harder to get into at first, thanks to being dubbed by 4kids originally.

I started around the summer time and I'm half way currently. I think its worth it. There's many favorable characters, good arcs but it has its downsides too

It's definitely too long but I've read that it has some really good arcs in there, so I understand why people watch it.

Watch One Piece my guy, its freaking awesome. I do get why you don't want to get into it as the investment is extremely steep but I'd say in the end it will probably all be worth it.
