I also completed a repair like this. I used tung oil to waterproof the concrete once it set and was completely dry. It's a plant based, food safe oil that won't harm the birds or animals. It's working wonderfully.

Wonderful job! I have a cement bird bath almost exactly like yours with huge cracks and a hole in it about like yours. My husband wanted me to throw it out but I can't. Birdbaths like this are expensive. I want to try to save it. Now I know how. Thank you so very much! I'd give you a big hug if I could. I just hope we have that type of concrete in my town. I just leave it running sis I went to put the goats in shade. The birds are taking advantages to your foods and birdbath. Love it.

I have a large water elephant fountain which has cracked all the way through the bowl. Seems this will work. Better than some other DIY's I seen.
