I personally Friedhelm's death was a heroic act with a purpose and not just a suicidal attack. He knew how fanatic the Hitlerjungen were, they'd rather die than surrender. His decision to SHOW them the reality of war and at the same time reveal the position and firepower of the enemy gave his buddies of the Werwolf Resistance the resolve to surrender. Tom Schilling deserves more recognition for his performance. Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter war genial!

This scene was THE FIRST TIME EEEEEEVVVEEER in a movie, that it made sense that someone sacrificed himself, and the first time I understood why he actually did it

This movie really hurts, , because that all was real

Old man was one of the last to stick his head up when they started surrendering and still kept most of his body behind the tree. There's a reason why he survived the trenches.

It hurts to see something like this even more, when you know that it all really happened for someone...

this makes me really sad

I like movies where they show the Axis' POV. One does not see much of that.
