There was an Irish counterfeiter who came to Australia in he 1980's. He was caught forging 20 cent coins by filing the corners off the 50 cent coins....

I have a '66 round 50c, which was handed to me as a 20c coin in change. Only noticed when I threw it in my loose change in the console. It made a different sound, and it started me collecting 50s.

Thanks P.J. from QUEENSLAND we are new to noodling, but have been fairly successful on a small budget, with 50 cent coins .we have noodled all the coins you have shown in this episode, except the millennium incused coin and the Northern Territory federation coin . Regards Angela and Stan..

Nice rundown on the $0.50s PJ. You did well to noodle that 1966.

The 1966 silver coin was the first 50cents when they came out when changed from the pound .They have cut the silver down since then.

Thought you might like this. Its about rare 50 cent coins. Very interesting. Hope you are enjoying moving into your new home. Please grow the biggest veggie garden, even a winter garden so I can pickel and can them.

Im from Western Australia, thank you for sharing

on the millennium coins there's another way to tell that its the variety coin. All the stars have a "smooth field" compared to the rough field on the normal variety. this means that the stars on the normal one are rough and the stars on the rare coin are smooth

There are two coins you forgot to mention:

I’m curious about the 1970 “Captain Cook” 50cents. Any idea on their value?
