The fact that Kratos tried to talk Baldur down and not just immediately scream and rip him to shreds is nice to see.

I really enjoyed the parallels between Freya and Kratos as parents. Freya tried to protect her son and in the process ruined his life by being overbearing and overprotective. Kratos almost did the same but was able to gain confidence in his son's abilities by connecting with him during their journey (and he only took him with because Baldur came to his house in the first place, he felt he couldn't leave Atreus at home alone). Kratos understood that you can't protect your child from all the evil things in the world. Instead you need to give them the confidence to face challenges and be able to see them get hurt making their own decisions and mistakes.

man, imagine Atreus died at that scene, the fire inside Kratos' eyes would burn again and then the whole Norse Mythology would be on the verge of destruction

Fun fact: In Norse Mythology, Freya makes every single animal and plant to promise that they won't hurt Baldur. However, Freya forgot to ask Mistletoe, since she considered Mistletoe to be harmless. Thus Baldur was made invulnerable. The Gods were poking fun at him by throwing everything imaginable, and one day Loki made a magic arrow out of mistletoe and gave it to Baldur's blind brother, Hoor. Hoor hurls the arrow at Baldur, killing him instantly. The death of Baldur triggers Ragnarok, where all the Gods are killed, everything dies except for 2 humans. Earth will be born anew, and from Hel there will return Magni, Modi, Hoor and Baldur, where they will recount the past events. The 2 humans and the new Earth will mark the end of Ragnarok and the birth of a new cycle.

I like the theory that after the punch he was going to hug them or thank them, they broke his curse and that would have indebted him to them, but Freya interrupted and it enraged him. He even puts his hands together like he's going to bow.

I can't blame Baldur for being pissed off in the first place. In Norse mythology its a huge honor and privilege to die in battle to join Odin in Valhalla. She basically robbed him of being able to do that.
