I think a sketch book is a very personal thing just like a journal is. If you love a messy sketch book it shouldn’t make you feel inferior. If it is personal it should be the way you want it to be. I really have an issue when people tell try to say what a sketch book should be. If it isn’t yours it shouldn’t matter. My other pet peeve is “you should paint loser”. I think “do I tell you what your style should be”? One question… why a “realistic sketch book”? A person who prefers a more polished look to their sketch book doesn’t think it isn’t realistic for them and you kind of imply it is not.
