I cannot do this on a pad (I have one of those mad catz 6-button pads), never tried a fightstick though... And if you make a '9' shape with the input, isn't the input 2369856K? Edit: I finally managed to do it but really inconsistently and mostly from left to right, from right to left is still almost impossible to pull off...

I find that 2369856K is more consistent. I think it is because the 8>5 makes it so that you don't accidentally get 9656 when going from 9 to 5 in the original kire input. 9656 can give you an airdash just by itself, so I feel like that is why the original kire feels less consistent.
