I did essentially the same thing. A little more power in my case. I mounted two 250hp Evinrudes, one on the back of each pontoon and I rigged up a steering wheel. I run around 145. I've hit about 165 a few times. Lotta fun.

Fantastic repurposing of a Hobie Cat, you have my sincere respect for the structural rig, decking, cargo net and engine. It looks like the engine killswitch key isn’t attached to his wrist. If you ever falls off and the throttle sticks that thing is going to chug away - and dare I suggest with the extension pipe on the throttle the chances of that happening are increased... I hope you’ve tested the throttle responses well if you should ever drop it. Because if you ever did fall over and drop the throttle and it stuck..... That could lead to an “interesting time”. So “Interesting” and it would be best avoided.

Se quiser melhorar o desempenho, abaixe o ponto de fixação do motor, quanto mais profundo a hélice trabalhar, menor a cavitação. Além disso, a falta do mastro na sua posição original (peso mais à proa), somado ao peso do motor + ancora na popa deixaram o HobieCat muito derrabado (popa baixa), aumentando o arrasto. Nesse caso, seria interessante deslocar a caixa de ancora pra proa e aumentar o comprimento do tubo de pvc para o piloto sentar mais à vante. Seria muito interessante usar um celular pra medir a velocidade maxima! Parabéns pela iniciativa!

love it. Boat is too heavy for the engine and the engine is too heavy for the boat (squatting). W/ a little weight up front, all good.

I think the engine being stationary and using the two original the Rutter's on each coil with one handle control would be a preferred system or maybe connects the motor to the handle control that controls the two Rutter's
