Bobby Bare, I was fortunate to have seen him perform live. I truly believe he single handedly opened the door for the Outlaw catagory made famous by Willy and Waylon. bare was way ahead of his time. I hear this track know and know what country music was truly about -- strong emotions, everyday life, and the beautiful sorrow. Today it's beer, trucks, sex, laziness, Yahoo... not.

This song has been covered by so many artists. There are many nice versions! I doubt if anyone who has posted hear has heard all the versions out there. I have listened to many of the versions. Like, did you know even Mick Jagger recorded this song? But, just because I like this song so much. I have listened to many versions. The version that got me interested in this song to start with, is John Anderson's version! Which I really like. Give it a listen, Let me know what you think? I would love to hear your feedback. I think John Anderson is a great example of the classic country artists of the past, and one of the most humble men you will ever meet.

Another great song recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville. Beautiful backing vocals and possibly Floyd Cramer playing a rhythmic piano in the distance.
