Fun fact: Riya does have a backstory which was kinda delved into in season 2 but not really this season, she grew up in a poor part of India and became an actess to help support her family, but she had a hard time and has to star in "adult" movies to get any pay, that's why she decided to move to the US for better chances and why she wants to win in the 1st place and it's the reason why she acts the way she does

Riya lost all of her neuance in DCAS

The reason she does what she does boils down to how she wants to be perceived by her fans. It's kind of the opposite to Ally's arc where Ally's trying too hard to change, to please her haters, while Riya is trying too hard not to change to please her fans.

This season went out of its way to make Riya win. In episode 10 she had the villains alliance, episode 11 Connor dragged her to winning immunity for episode 12, episode 13 Grett officially broke up with Yul for goodso everyone voted for him, episode 14 was on auto elimination round, episode 15 Ally was being petty towards jake/aiden, episode 16 the totem was used on Jake and Alec was voted out for some reason and then she won immunity until the finale.

My main issue with Riya in DCAS is just the fact that her consequences or lack there of don’t equal what she has done. What makes it even worse is that ONC has shown that they can give villains a proper comeuppance. Yul tried to poison Aiden, got poisoned by James instead. Fiore did all the shit she did season 1 just to lose anyways and then in season 3 got used and voted out as she did to others. Even in Total Drama Island (using them as an example). Heather lost the original season and got her hair cut off. Now as for Riya… she attempted murder a few characters multiple times over and her punishment is “well you get to keep your career and win 3 million dollars but your alone”, why the fuck would she care about 18 people not liking her if she still has her career and 3 MILLION DOLLARS!? Even outside of her, Emily does 2 fucked up things in 2 episodes (pushing Trevor off the cliff and then releasing the scorpions) and then her punishment is being put in a full body cast? It just… doesn’t add up? I’m not saying like kill Riya off because of what she’s done but give her proper punishment to what she’s done, have her cancelled on social media, have her lose her acting career, even have EESHA just end up hating her because of her behavior on tv. But just. “Oh no, she’s all alone now” as punishment is kind of like… okay, and? I’m just disappointed with how they wrote Riya and I don’t like her at all and am disappointed with her winning especially when ONC has shown they can write better (imo) villains. Fiore,Alec,Yul,Ellie, and Grett especially. But of all of them, you let Riya win? Just… no…

I'm totally agree. I wish we have a spin-off one day, or an explanation for the reason she act like that. Why she's so obstinate. If she as a members on her family who's sick, or anything. In the episode 20, she clamed she NEED the money, with rage in her eyes. She stabbed Jack's troat with a metal weapon ! Tried to make people fall of a cliff, send rocks in the face of Ally, Tom, etc. She just did this for money or attention ? I don't think. But finally, we don't have any ansewers. :c

Riya should not have been in the finale. It should have been Grett! It would have been much more satisfying to see her against Jake in the Finale and instead of Fighting they should of had to do an obstacle course that ends with climbing a wall and having to do pull ups to get themselves up. It would have played well into how Grett felt insecure about exercise and Jake's fear of heights.
