Emilia Pérez just premiered in cinemas here in Mexico, it opened in 5th place on the box office, only 20k people went to see it in a country of 131.5 million people, wonder why?

A lot of people here in México myself included hate Emilia Pérez. It was insane that it got 13 noms while Dune: Part Two got only five and I don't even want to talk about Challengers. I could understand some noms for the film but cinematography, screenplay, makeup, editing and lead actress were a complete joke since there were superior films in those categories

I finally watched Emilia Perez and I cannot understand what the academy is seeing. I think they believe they’re being progressive with the Mexican/Trans focus of it, but aren’t realizing how poorly constructed it is. I cannot believe the “songs” in this movie. It’s one thing for it to be nominated for so much, but over Dune and Challengers as best director??
