I’m from upstate NY where this is typical winter weather. A useful tip: have a bag you keep in your car all the time with extra emergency provisions, including dry clothes, fuel, food, flares, candles, extra batteries, tarp, blanket, first aid kit, matches and a shovel. You never know when you might need it. An ounce of prevention can make a huge difference in situations like this. I live in the UK now, which has more rugged roads and is not equipped with plows and services to contend with heavy snowfall, so your hardships were very real and aren’t comparable to those in countries where this is normal weather. Glad you all trudged through safely! So many people die each winter in terrain that would otherwise be a simple day trek. You all did a great job keeping calm.

Most would leave that out, but your showing it as it really is, and it can be really dangerous, you worked as an amazing team, I’ve subscribed , your incredible and resourceful, and if you don’t mind me saying courageous, Old Owl Alaya Norfolk.

i love the simple acts of kindness and thoughtfulness of some people, leaving you firewood and things left behind to read/use etc. we need more of that

Thank God you had the tent. But you should always carry food for several days. Just in case.

The love and concern for your pup is admirable. You've certainly won my heart! I'm so glad you all made it home, thanks for sharing your adventure!

Well done for keeping a cool head (no pun intended) and making the correct decisions when you had to. Thank goodness you were prepared for the bothy being unavailable and took the tent. A riveting story. Glad you are all safe.
