Story-wise it is a peninsula, gameplay-wise it is an island.

Well, yea, there is a land connection, but actually in real life nobody can simply drive to those parts of a county, You have to take a boat or a plane instead

The chuchki peninsula and Svalbard island is why I sometimes wish HOI4 had a full map

I once got the soviet onion achievement because I had a soviet civil war and the only state I controlled was this peninsular (I only had this state because I didn’t set up a secret base)

in my japan game i forgot that province existed and the soviet union still exists there. The fun part is that they somehow got like 800k manpower and lots of equipment and now its impossible to invade bc there is like 20 divisions defending it

Northeast passage would be very useful for any country (also, IRL it was used in a WW2), but, you know, it`s BOOORING to draw map to the polar ocean xD

In my first ironman game as the Germans after killing the soviets that little peninsula somehow got ignored by the AI and me(I didn't know it existed)and we just let the Soviet union exist there because I'm too lazy to do anything about a chunk of nothing surrounded by nothing

I love the Chukchi Peninsula, everytime I leave the USSR there in the Peace-Deal and thus get myself a puppet that does not have their National Spirits meaning it doesn't change Ideology and is actually useful.

That little bit of land has always annoyed me, because in EU4 it's part of the Alaska wasteland , which doesn't really make sense for part of siberia

Well, I think the game is coded in a way that if there is a connection to one of your other tiles you can train troops there, but because HOI4 cuts a bit off Siberia, the connection isnt there as that ocean province is separating it, therefore no training troops there.
