The amount of jealousy in this comment section is pathetic. Stop bringing down others because of your own failures. A college essay doesn't need to be flashy or fun or unique, it needs to be intimate so the counselor can get to know you as a person. I've talked with my admission counselor before, and essays that try too hard to be flamboyant ends up distracting from who you really are. Trust me, this essay is pretty good for an admission essay and exactly what they want. Congrats on your acceptance!

As an English teacher, I really enjoyed your essay. It was compelling from the beginning (good hook), interesting, had just the right amount of vocabulary for a HS senior and showed your growth as a person. Definitely, will recommend it to my students.
