A few cheap points regarding Starkiller Base and its ability to eat stars:

I'm just utterly baffled by the sheer lack of world building and universe. It's like a teenager wrote it. "Who cares about politics or factions or things, those are boring, let's just have our characters shoot the bad guys and blow stuff up"

Rey's lack of any real motivation bugs me even more than her being a clear Mary Sue; it actually starts out a little clever, as the writers obviously want to distinguish her from Luke in at least one way, so they invert his wanting to get away from his family and get out into the galaxy, to her wanting to stay home and reunite with her family. Unfortunately, this gives her a passive, almost negative motivation that means she wants nothing to do with the events of the plot. In order for her to get involved in the story, the plot has to railroad her into it. By the end, she apparently decides to move on with her life and go forward--but *we never actually see her coming to this point*! She's just getting on the Falcon, and we have to assume such a scene since it happened off-screen...

You can't just start a mutiny with a handful of people, you need a strong majority of the crew behind you, if not the entire crew, else you end up with loyalists defending their captain from mutineers.

When Maz Kanata said that she was busy with "union disputes" in The Last Jedi, I honestly didn't know if she was fighting for or against the unions. That's how little character development she has.

I'd like to propose a different "How Finn should have been".

We continue where we left off? WHERE WE LEFT OFF? Jesus Christ i forgot everything...does it mean i have to start with Part 1 again?

I personally vote that from now on, the term “Mary Sue” be replaced with “Rey” or “Rey Palpatine” since Rey embodies the “Mary Sue” trope more so than any other film of similar budget and scope. When someone says that character is totally a “Rey” it is immediately understood by a large number of people. Rey was a bigger “Mary Sue” than Mary ever was. Rey took Mary out. Poor Mary didn’t stand a chance against Rey...

You know the prequel trilogy contains a moment like Aragorn getting the sword of Isildur.

If the First Order didn't have as much power as it did in TFA, it would make the hunt for Luke more believable. Luke Skywalker wouldn't make or break either faction, but his presence (or death) would be a massive morale boost, which might be able to turn the tides of war. If, say, the war between the New Republic and the First Order was reaching a stalemate, both sides would be looking for any advantage they could possibly get. As it looks in TFA, the First Order already completely dominates the war, and doesn't need Luke Skywalker's death for anything.

Imagine if Starkiller Base (or whatever stand-in "big threat" machine they opted to use) actually wasn't destroyed at the end of the first part of a "trilogy." Imagine if instead, they tried to destroy the super-death-machine - possibly even with a much larger fleet than they had to attack the Death Star with - and utterly failed, and then it all becomes about escaping before they're completely wiped out by said death machine. Imagine using the climax of the first movie to elevate the sense of threat in the next two movies.

In Legends Han was a hero, good husband, and a good father. These sequels were so disrespectful.
