FAVORITE FEEDBACK:

I'll be honest, a good amount of videos made are pretty good. Sometimes, I'm even pretty impressed. However, I rarely get blown away in amazement. This is the "blown away in amazement" type of video. Please keep up the good work. ..........................-ZMagic97

Finally, someone has captured what it feels like to cruise!!!! This is an instant favorite. Well, done sir.

Helpful vid, and it’s hands down the most common issue with the twin cam motors that goes unchecked. Also I don’t understand the hate from folks who criticize the ice cream bucket lol a real mechanic can find a purpose for just about anything.

Just checked my 03 roadking with 10500 miles. Worn in about 1/8" with lots of pitting. Ordered hyd. Update today. Ticking time bomb. Changing them out.

You can inspect runout using a dial indicator before ordering parts since most vendors ship quickly and you can call etc to verify items are in stock before ordering. If runout is excessive you could stay chain instead. I work part time at a small indy shop and I don't quote the labor, so check places like the v-twin forum section on twin-cam engine mods for common current prices. You'll want to discuss your intended use since there are many choices.

very informative. I have a 2005 Softail Deuce and the Harley dealer has never recorded this as a change and never mentioned it as a potential problem. I will be inspecting my tensioners this week. 28,000 + miles on it so far.

This is why Harley-Davidson went to a single cam and single chain, single tentioner on the Milwaukee 8 motor. Then there is the highly problematic chain primary drive over time.

My 2004 Softail looked good at 40K.   Few thoughts.   Keep out of the rpm's above 4000.  You can tell if wear is at maximum on inner pad if the link pins in the link chain are touching pad face.  Harley's true fix was the roller chain they went to.

The hydraulic lifters last longer than the spring loaded ones. It is good to check. I was 650 miles from home when mine let go. I caught it early and it did not damage the engine but it is something that you should check every fall when you winterize your bike.
