the problem is that all enemies try to attack him at once and not even one thinks about defending cause they are blinded by the number advantage. When ur not experianced you believe you have the upper hand but the defender can riposte just a single attack and counter attack all enemies while blocking all incoming attacks at the same time. In these situations you need good footwork by the defender to try and keep all enemies in his slash arc for counter attacks and the attackers must varry their attacks (makes riposting much harder) and do their best to cut off his escape

One of my big mistakes is trying to counter in 1vx, as demonstrated here a simple parry/riposte is a better play most of the time because stacked up attackers usually either stabs or overhead to avoid dealing team damage
