Bowser's muscle car is not based on Mario Kart. It is based on Super Mario 3D World.

Hot take but this is a line that actually works better with the big figures than it would with minifigures... makes the kart builds way more interesting.

Not gonna lie the Mario kart theme is HYPE. Red shell and green shell blasters are legit. I do still wish we got figs but maybe one day

Of all the sets baby Mario and Luigi is on my list so far. Thier a bit more minifigure - kinda a minion build- and the price works for me. That grand prix looks good but $80 doesn't sseem reasonable. If the electronic features are crancing up the price I'm afraid this won't be a theme I will invest in untill more smaller sets come out. I'd love to ses Baby Peach vs Daisy and uther small sets like that and some small sets for building race tracks instead of buying a big set based off one of the race courses.

Fun Fact: If you pair another LEGO Mario to another one, if you use the item box, if you get a blue shell or banana, it actually goes to theirs and hits them. A cool little detail!

Fun Fact: I interviewed with Lego over a 4 month period, for a position called "Master Play Inventor". The position was to oversee the design team the creative play lab working on the Super Mario toy line(s). For during the final interview, they asked me to design and produce a Lego set from scratch, including electronics and associated software. Arguably similar to what they had done already with the toys. Ultimately, I settled on pitching a "Mario Kart" line to add to the existing Mario toys they had. Everything you see in this toy set here is essentially what I pitched to them - just with a slightly different play pattern.
