i will always side eye people who call THAT photo of syd as evidence of his "downfall", it's just so sick. just bc he lost his physical good looks, doesn't mean he's any worse than he was back then. syd was in a healing period in that photo, and that's all that matters.

I thought the whale section in echoes was somewhat obvious. The song has many meanings but one of them is the search for someone, a soul mate, a friend etc. the whale section is some what an analogy of that. Whales lost, using echolocation to find anyone. The build up to the end of the song is the journey and discovery of someone “ cloudless every day, you fall upon my waking eyes”. It’s kind of brilliant actually
