Brilliant sequence, brilliantly filmed, almost perfectly scored, with even a little light humour thrown in as well. One of the best heist sequences Hollywood has ever produced, only made better when we begin to realize who the thief really was! Thanks for posting.

Best intriguing heist scene with equally sheer intriguing music with extreme tension devloped on each sequence..masterpiece. And no CGI. All done physically. Those were real unique art days.

Great Scene.. simply the best scene crime wise with action. Well directed and planned out. Nonstop pulsating. Love it.

6:38 This song has been one of my faves since, like, 1992 but I don't think anybody has ever released it on a soundtrack...

For a comedy film. This was really a suspenseful but brilliant Heist scene. I really thought that was really Sir Charles Phantom the Notorious Lytton stealing The Pink Panther diamond, but rewatching it, I found out that it was actually Lady Lytton because you can tell by the way The Thief moves.

I still maintain this is one of the finest openings to a movie. It has everything; great action, great music, tone, drama, tension, it completely belies the fact that the film is a comedic farce. I also love how there’s no music during the taking of the gem allowing the tension to ramp up. Together with the brilliant animated film titles it’s right up there as one of the best!

I always found the calls to prayer in the dawn hours sort of chilling.
