If you want a scoped hunting rifle there's one on the roof of the Red Rocket to the east of Cambridge Police Station and north of the Commonwealth Institute of Technology. There's a random spawn in front of the rocket that can include mirelurks or wild dogs so make sure you sneak around to the stairs at the back. I've been there multiple times and, even at level one, it's always had a full stock and scope on it.

I had no idea there was a Sniper Rifle up there. On my way to get it, I did have a few small encounters. I did get the sniper though, thank you.

Been playing since launch and never knew this was on the roof. Thanks.

I have been there countless times, and I had no idea you could legitimately get up there and that a fully modded Sniper Rifle was up there. Thanks!

I found the checkpoint but my attention instantly focused on the full set of X-01 locked by that terminal you used to jump on the roof. By the time I safely got there on Survival difficulty I didn't need this rifle but it may be useful for another run. Very cool!

that's a good route from DC to the Checkpoint -- i usually follow the train tracks and squeeze between the radioactive bug pit and the scrapyard, but at level one that's pretty tight, especially with the random encounter spawn halfway through. i've been playing survival with a "no fixed legendaries" ruleset for a while now, so knowing this is here for early-game is definitely good to know.

So, you spend 30 minutes or more trying to get to diamond city and avoid conflict just to find a sniper rifle. Awesome find, but not worth the trouble and time, all things considered.

That's neat.

"Raiders will try to give you acute lead poisoning" caught me off guard, instant like hahaa.

I had no idea it was up there. I usually check rooftops and other elevated places for hidden loot. Or to check out the surrounding areas to see what isn't apparent at ground level.

Wow, I've been there countless times and never knew that was there! That's awesome

i've played a long time on fallout, went near this small outpost more than a few times, and i've never been aware of this weapon !! super cool to know !

'if he sees u, he'll give you accute lead poisoning' best way i have heard someone describe getting shot lol
fido139 (22 hours ago)
Head for Vault 81, get the Overseers Guardian. That weapon is good for most of the game.

I spent hundreds of hours playing I hope you can garner some amusement as well. I've played to the completion of the game as well as having two other games started. One game I am playing more difficult level simply trying to survive and not following the story. The other I started after mods were available so I stay busy reconstructing the world. In the survival mode my first move was to secure the underground shelter/Root cellar in your neighbor's backyard. It's a small space however it's an invaluable underground shelters which shields you from radiation. Also north of Sanctuary are several locations of interest. Directly north is the pond infested with mirelurks. North of the pond is the scrap yard with the military robot. Northeast of that is a radio tower and underground complex with raiders. Just to the east of the radio tower is an open field with a downed vertibird. The vertibird is inoperative however there's an operable power armor frame standing in the field close by. Beware the field as mole rats infest this area also. A quick dash from the road side to the power armor frame is all it really takes to get it. I don't recall if it had a power source installed however it can be moved from my recollection even if you don't have power albeit with reduced speed. Hopefully that was helpful and not a spoiler. ️

Definitely a new discovery ..... would have never imagined there is a gift on the roof. But the risks at level 1 ???? ....... I would rather save up for the Overseer Guardian. I found a fitted out combat rifle seems to be Nick Valentine's favorite weapon and he is very effective with it ..... make it with a reflex scope. Is there anywhere which rates the marksmanship of companions ? that would be interesting. But for overall best sidekick i think Codsworth is the choice as he deals so well with flying, crawling and walking threats. The others seem pretty haphazard against flying and crawling.
