A few words: I personally think when you first merged with the p51 you shouldn't have gone into a spiral, simply because you just did a 180, and he would easily be able to go up after you. With that many enemies around, taking a dogfight with a p51 would likely make you drain a lot of energy, even if you do eventually kill him, it would leave you a sitting duck.
