Nobody lives forever. So why do people go to church and pay into a belief system so that they can have eternal life? Shall I tell you why? It's because they are scared of death and the only way they can overcome that irrational fear and attempt to live forever is by subscribing to a belief system. Religion is used to give gullible individuals reassurance that they can live indefinitely and to give mentally unstable and vulnerable people a reason to keep going and not to commit suicide and end their suffering. It is a fact that religion is used to control and manipulate us.
Faith was established on the insecurities of mankind because man could not come to terms with his own demise and the establishment very quickly found a way to manipulate faith into a form of mind control and a method to ensure law and order.
As an ex-Christian myself, I can tell you that the only actual "God" is the one that stares back at you in the mirror: YOURSELF!
