Description
Like Benny and Bjorn wrote and Aggie and Anni-Frida sang: Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing. Thanks for all the joy their bringing. Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty. What would life be? Without a song or a dance, what are we? So I say thank you for the music, for giving it to me.

Nothing better than listening to this song when you're wide awake at 3am and enjoying the moonlight

Thank you Harry, for perhaps the greatst lullaby ever written. Your music puts me to sleep so very often, when my head refuses to let go. You are so missed

IMO Harry Nilsson was one of the most under rated singer songwriters of his time; at a time when there was an explosion of musical creativity. This song is a great example of his creative genius and always comes to my mind whenever there is a Full Moon on the calendar. I am then compelled to play it several times and think about the lyrics and what it says to me. As with any really great lyrical composition, everyone is left with their own interpretation. To me it is a very lovely and melancholy lullaby for sure but as an alternate interpretation there's a certain loneliness and likewise sad emptiness conveyed in the lyrics in combination with the melody. Awesome tune whatever the interpretation.

This was an ideal lullaby when my son was born in 1978. ️ Miss you, Harry, and your dear son Zak Nilsson too.

Thanks so much musicluver1958 for such beauiful imagery of my favorite Nilsson song. What a gift he had to not only see beyond the usual and mundane but he drew us in to his world of wonder and made us wonderful too. His songs were never just sung, they were filled with emotion that hit hard - filled my eyes with tears, or filled my heart with joy - nothing was ever in between with Harry. We miss you like crazy Harry, and all you would have imagined for us.

What a beautiful song, with these words and his voice..there's nothing like it in today's music. I miss him so much.

When he mentions the moonbeam hitting "a fence with crap around its bottom, blown there by a windbeam..." I fall into a slurpy pile of slush. Even just now, listening and typing these words, goosebumps erupted all over my body like the unabridged version of The Princess Bride in Braille. Thank you, Harry.
