My dad would never use a spray to help start either the 460D or 560D. We had a lot of trouble with heads and gaskets. By age 17 I was nearly a certified expert on overhauling those two tractors or so it seemed like it. Now in my mid-60's I realize WHY they were so troublesome, especially the 460D. Dad had the max rpms set at 2450 to pull a 4-16 plow and heavy IH 14" disk. It was doing work that should've had a 706 doing.

They definitely start hard

Being that's a Roosa Master injection pump with a mechanical governor the throttle is always wide open when you start it.
