Turning off threaded optimization on my GPU fixed this for me. No need for crappy V-Sync.

This is still a problem with Optifine. Just want to say some may have luck with toggling the Advanced OpenGL setting in-game to Off or Fancy (not Fast tho) without having to change GPU settings (also, I'd recommend setting per-app setting instead of global if that's used).

I've found the fix! (Well at least the one that works with me.) Go onto you graphic driver settings and make sure to turn vsync on and threaded optimization or opengl optimization off. Hope that helps everyone :)

Just only do the stuff he said about optifine, if you're using multi core or smooth rendering make sure AdvancedOpenGL is OFF and not on fancy or fast. This worked for me and i didnt have to go to my nividia card.

You are indeed amazing. I have two sons already, but if I have a third I will name him Luis Adeur!

I can confirm as well; across all settings and all flavors of optifine (though vanilla seems to be noticeably better than MT for me).

disable threaded optimization from nvidia control panel , and if you're using chunk loading options like smooth and multi core make sure AdvancedOpenGL is disabled.

@Fuehrer Vsync will synchronise the refresh rate of your monitor with your games fps. For example if my monitor refresh rate was 60hz then the game would not let the fps go above 60. Unfortunately on some lower resolution monitors the refresh rate could be 30hz or something which may look less smooth which seems to be your problem. You should install the smooth version of optifine with Vsync off and see how it runs. If you still get the flashing chunks with Vsync off on the smooth version try i

I am having a somewhat similar bug, however I don't have any mods installed: when I go far from an area, and I return, certain chunks load only when I get very close. Anyone knows a fix?
