Y'know, I've always loved Kamina, great character, fantastic design, and obviously a massive inspiration. I realized while watching this that there are more personal reasons that I really like this character and this show, Kamina is someone who grew up in a sleepy settlement, dreaming of great things, and actively working to reach those goals, outgoing, unafraid, and actively beneficial for everyone around him, I live in a quiet suburban town, at seventeen I have very few stories to share, I'm a very quiet person with a handful of really close friends. I realize that I admire Kamina because I am Simon, and if he can become like Kamina then damn it I can too, it may not be instant, hell, it'll take a lot of work for me, but I can do it, I know I can grow, because that's how a drill works

I don't care what anyone else says, the fact they started in a hole in the ground, won a world war, discovered space travel AND fought a being who controlled space and time AND END with a freaking Fist fight TYING EVERYTHING together makes this one THE BEST ANIME with THE MOST SATISFYING ENDING. ALL in one season and I loved it when it came out... Though it really did break my heart to losing the most entertaining character right off.
