adding so much germans to austria-hungary you need to consider that the other ethnic groups very much hated the idea. hungary would definitely demand greater autonomy if this were to happen, and all the other smaller regions would be very upset too, i think in the end such thing would only destabilise the empire

If you want French annexation of all territories west of the Rhine you have to not that some of them weren’t North German before 1871. Even if you have all of them annexed by Prussia in 1866, the South Germans will likely want them back.

I think WW1 could atleast sea a N.German, Italian, Russian alliance as all 3 would have claims on S.Germany or atleast conflicting interests. Britain could stay neutral, but maybe even they could join in, seeing it as chance to, not only, get rid of the Bonapartes once more, but also expand mostly on costs of France, knowing that a fully united Germany, especially with good ties to Russia, could become a threat to their economic power.
