Godzilla isn't in the public domain but a VERY SPECIFIC picture promoting the 1954 film is. That's the entire basis of this nonsense.

I feel like this guy is going to release a follow up to this where he's gonna say something like: "I trolled the entire Godzilla Fandom! I was only pretening to be stupid! I win!" or something like that.

It’s funny, Doktor Skipper says “TOHO didn’t expect Godzilla to become “Marvellized” one day,” oblivious to the fact that he technically already was during the 60s and 70s, since TOHO’s monster films were connected in some way, due to the numerous crossover films. Even when Godzilla was rebooted several times over like with 1985, 2000 and the Monsterverse, those other kaiju that had solo films in the 60s, like Mothra, Rodan, and Mogera, eventually became part of the Godzilla lore.

If godzilla was public domain every big and little studio would have made a godzilla movie. We'd be overrun with movies

Also the crew of the Lucky Dragon did not die. They became very ill but recovered in weeks and lived moderately long lives.

I don't know if I love or hate how "was this written by AI?" has become such a prominent insult.

43:58 The US military does not help Godzilla fight the Mutos. Now, Ford does blow up the Muto nest on his own, but that's the only effect he had on the fight.

Saying there was no message in GvK is a bit silly when the whole reason the movie happened was because Humanity, or at least a small part of it, wanted to play god and overthrow Godzilla, the guardian of the natural order. We stepped out of line, he pushed us back. While yes they did have the technology to make Mecha-Godzilla, they never stopped to think if they should they make Mecha-Godzilla. Also had a small message showing them exploiting Kong for their own means to make said MG.

Skipper showed Shin Godzilla as an example of a movie that Minus One blew out of the water, and presumably as an example of a movie that misses the point of Godzilla.

If I ignore all the misinformation (which there is plenty of), and focus just on the main point he was trying to get across, I'm not upset with his ideas. I don't 100% disagree with his views on 1954, Minus One and the Monsterverse (aside from this weird idea that Godzilla is an American hero in those films), but his views on all the others Toho movies were lazy and ignorant. Godzilla represented many different things and messages throughout the many eras of Godzilla. These things are not unique to 1954 and Minus One. I've also said before that no one will tell you the Monsterverse movies are outright good, but they will always tell you the fight scenes are awesome, which makes them plenty enjoyable for a lot of people.
