When Yoda went " AUUUUOOOOOOGGGGHHHHH " i felt that.

The idea that he has convinced himself that going through the most painful experience will make him a better individual makes it feel like he's lost it completely. Especially something that will bring him permanent changes. I feel like he's too far gone when he starts telling himself this. The fact that he doesn't hesitate, but instead convinces himself audibly validates this idea.
