At some point halfway through the game I said: FUCK THESE SHARDS! Some are in places impossible to reach no matter how many different ways you try. I think devs put them in hard to reach places for a laugh. Astrarium puzzles are easier to deal with, than collecting shards and they can be tough.

Apparently these are useful if you're playing on hard or nightmare? I can play Mass Effect on hard or nightmare but I can't play DAI on either because the game is padded with so much unnecessary content, that it would take me forever to complete it. This was my least favorite task, made all the worse by the fact that some shards were placed in areas that were annoying to reach. The requisitions and crafting materials were something else. Surely if I'm leading an army, I can hire someone to pick bloody flowers and minerals. Having to stop every 5 minutes to pick a flower also made the horse rather useless. I love the game but some of these things should be thought through in the next installment

i got all the shards but when i was in this place i found one of though doors and used some shards stupidly. and when i went back to open the last it said i did not have enough i wanted to die.....................

But there were many more shards left even after I opened the final door.. What happens if I collect ALL the shards in the game? Anything?

well the resistance is gud specially on nightmare my guess also if you dont take the loot the items keep spamming so once you have the schematics for runes you just farm the materials over and over again. 

So shards collected in other locations of the dragon age world will help me unlock these doors??? Anybody

i gave up on those shards after i found that temple, ive got no patience haha

I collected all the shards even from the dlc and it tells me to collect 18 when I have 16 and there's no more shards to collect.

Ahh, that makes scene. I was wondering why I couldn't get the doors open in this place. hah.

I say no because their was no yellow weapons witch seems to be very limited in the game. same with too low of a dps
